"More Tigers than I have ever seen in one place!"
Owen left
Norwalk in 1978 along with his Tiger and moved to the Sunny state
of Florida. in the early 1980s took the Tiger all apart with plans to
restore it.
Well, it has been sitting in his garage for about 30 years now & with
a little nudging
he has begun the Task of the restoration. We will post progress photos of the project
as they are sent in. Owen is now a part of the Southern Chapter of the Connecticut Seaport
Car Club!
Hello Connecticut
Seaport Car Club Members!
For those of you that have been long standing members and still have your
memory,
you may recall years ago back in 2011, we featured an article about a
fellow from
Florida that has a 1965 Sunbeam Tiger serial number LRXFE00278
that had his car in storage for almost 30 years. As you might recall,
his parts had been through 2 major floods and all part
identifiers had been destroyed, leaving him with
a mountain of rusted, solid crusty Tiger parts. This year's submission
shows Mead, (pictured below)
proudly displaying his latest accomplishment.
He is shown holding the #14 cylinder head bolt,
recently restored to working condition!
Mead states:
"It was quite a job! It looked like something you would find
in the ocean. I used a wire brush until it closely resembled a bolt, then
I sandblasted the daylights out of it, used sandpaper, steel wool
then rubbing compound. I then used a die to make the thread usable.
" Mead continued, "yup, 1 down, 15 to go!" Mead plans to
celebrate this huge undertaking with a camping trip with his wife
Stacy and brother Jerry aka "Grinz".
Please renew your membership next year and hopefully,
we will bring you more exciting Tiger Project updates!
